Why AI-assisted coding is the next step in a long line of programming abstractions, not a replacement for knowing how to program
There is a variation of an old argument happening around AI-assisted programming: Real programmers write their own code. It's the same argument that got made about compilers, frameworks, and APIs.
AI doesn't remove the need for programming knowledge. It changes where that knowledge is most valuable, and a wrong caller list on this very BBS is a good example of why.
